Dear Tahoe Valley Families,

Very exciting news! The return to hybrid is Thursday February 4, 2021 for Cohort B.  We can’t wait to see those smiling faces ready to learn. Your child will be in the same Cohort (A or B) as they were before moving to distance learning.  If you’re not sure, we will send a reminder out at the end of this week. Or,  you may ask your teacher.

Important Details (Please read carefully to cut down on any first-week confusion.)

School hours on-campus begin at 9:25 am.  Students are not allowed on campus prior to 9:00 am.  We do not have adult supervision available before that time. School is dismissed as follows: TK: 1:00 pm;  K: 1:05 pm, 2nd, 4th: 1:20 pm; 1st ,3rd, 5th: 1:25 pm. Students must be picked up immediately after school to prevent grouping and mixing of classes.

No passes are required at this time, just be at your stop at the designated time.  For Transportation questions or issues call 530-543-2218. Link to bus routes, click here.  For Meal Distribution schedules, check on the LTUSD Website.

School Entry and Exit

All students are required to wear a mask as they exit cars and buses, and social distancing will be maintained. If a student does not have a mask, or forgets to wear a mask, one will be provided to them. There are lots of different types of masks; surgical masks are awesome, cloth face masks are fantastic, masks with holes in them and bandanas should not be worn.

For morning drop off (not before 9:00), stay in your car and follow the flow of traffic. Let your child out of the vehicle once you arrive “in the zone”. Don’t wait until you get to the front of the line.  There will be staff directing traffic and supervising students.  Grades TK-1 will enter and exit through the breezeway. Grades 2 & 3 will enter and exit through the front doors. Grades 4 and 5 will enter and exit through the side gate (see map). At release time, please be ready to pick your child up promptly at the time listed above.  Stay in your vehicle and utilize the drive-up service - lines are not long. Please do not call to your child from across the parking lot or have them cross through traffic without an escort.  If you are walking, please keep social distance, wear a mask and wait in the designated area.  Do not walk into a crowd of waiting students. If you have an urgent matter and you need to pick your child up early from school, please email our office at and we will escort the student outside to you.

We have put multiple measures into place to make our school as safe as possible.  All areas on campus which are used by  students and staff will be sanitized daily.  All students should self-screen to make sure they do not have any symptoms of any type of illness prior to coming to school.   NO VOLUNTEERS OR VISITORS at this time. Parents are not allowed past the parking lot/front area of the school.  The playground and building interior areas are for staff and students only.

Lunches and Snacks

Free breakfast and lunch is available for all students. If it is your child’s Cohort Day, breakfast will be served on campus and lunch will be sent home with those that let their teacher know in the morning.  Students should bring several nutritious snacks from home for food breaks.  Optional free meals will be sent home with students on either Tuesdays or Fridays for their off-campus school days.  CDC and LTUSD guidelines prohibit drinking fountains at Tahoe Valley. Please send your child with a reusable water bottle that can be refilled at our bottle filling stations or sinks.
