Hello Thunderbird Nation!
Testing Season is approaching, please start now in preparing students by talking about the importance of testing and be sure they are rested, have a snack packed and to start the day with a good breakfast!
Parents: In an attempt to eliminate cell phone use during school hours and avoid disctractions to the learning environment, if a teacher sees a cell phone out it will be sent to the office for pick up by a parent or guardian. Thanks for your help in talking to your student about this at home. We are reviewing this policy and will likely be adding smart watches in the very near future.
For questions, concerns, or assistance, reach out to our PTA committee member, Samantha Reith, at samanthajreith@yahoo.com.
Registration is open for TK/K for the upcoming school year!! Please contact the office so we can get you on the list! Or e-mail sspees@ltusd.org
Summer interest forms for Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe summer program and camps will be available on April 1st until April 19th.

This Week in TK
Spring had sprung (at the beginning of the week) and we were able to fill our playground sandbox! TK would like to send a special shoutout to Kyle at Sierra Tahoe Ready Mix for making the donation and delivery on Wednesday. YOU SOAR!
In class, we started studying caterpillars and we will watch them transform into butterflies over the next few weeks. We also planted broccoli and broccoli sprouts in our CalFresh Nutrition Lessons. Get ready for more fun in TK, only 37 days remaining in school!
Another reminder, please stay in your vehicles during TK dismissal and pickup and a staff member will assist your child into the car. If you need extra time for seatbelt buckling you may park at the end of the parking lot and walk to the flag pole to pickup your child. Thank you for helping us with this process to keep dismissal running smoothly.
This Week in Kindergarten
We can't believe that May is almost here! It is already the 141st day of school!
In Reading, we are continuing to practice our decoding skills and are starting to learn about the long sounds for the vowels "a, e, i, o, u". The long vowel sounds sound just like the letters' names!
In Math, we are continuing to practice our subtracting skills and are learning about solid shapes: cube, sphere, rectangular prism, cylinder, cone. Some of us are even making mobiles using the solid shapes we have created.
In Science, we are learning about motion and the forces of pushing, pulling, and gravity. It has been fun experimenting using balls and ramps and watching these forces in action.

The first grade is hard at work practicing I-Ready programs in reading and math. All this concentrated practice will help them prepare for the I-Ready testing at the end of the year. Way to go first grade!
